Children’s lessons should provide material for their mental growth, should exercise the several powers of their minds, should furnish them with fruitful ideas, and should afford them knowledge, really valuable for its own sake, accurate, and interesting, of the kind that the child may recall as a man with profit and pleasure.

Charlotte Mason

General Description Of An Ambleside Teacher

Ambleside teachers have an active, personal faith in Jesus Christ along with a desire to live out their faith by investing in young children and families through education. They are lifelong learners. Ambleside teachers sense a calling to help children grow academically, spiritually, and in character. They are interested in doing the hard work personally and professionally. They are able to lead young people with authority and respect, insight and courage, love and inspiration. They are committed to Jesus’ principles of relationship with God and others through practice and prayer.

Recognizing that Ambleside School of Waco exists for the purpose of implementing the method of Charlotte Mason, Ambleside teachers willingly practice our educational philosophy as practiced by our schools affiliated with Ambleside Schools International. Besides the core subjects of Bible, math, literature, history, and science, teachers at Ambleside instruct in many other areas of study, 12- 16 subjects a week. Our curriculum uses few textbooks. Teachers are trained in our philosophy at a week-long Summer Institute and through frequent observations in the classroom.

If you have a love and loyalty for Christ, the capacity to connect with and influence children. If you delight in learning, reading, and studying, and if you are developing a passion for Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, we would love to hear from you!
