Leah Caldwell

Head of School

Leah brings more than two decades of experience investing in the lives of children and families through church ministry and education. For over thirteen years, she personally implemented Ambleside’s philosophy and methods as a home educator, cultivating a deeply rooted vision for an education shaped by truth, beauty, and goodness. She now brings that same vision to Ambleside School of Waco.

As Head of School, Leah plays a central role in shaping both the mission and the daily life of the school. She is responsible for ensuring the integrity and excellence of the curriculum, mentoring teachers, and cultivating a classroom culture that forms not only capable students but thoughtful, virtuous young people. Her work represents a strategic investment in the next generation—one that strengthens families and contributes to the long-term cultural and intellectual health of the broader community.

Leah’s leadership is marked by a deep sense of calling, careful stewardship, and a commitment to sustainability and growth. She understands that meaningful education requires both vision and faithful execution, and she is dedicated to building an institution that will serve families in Waco for generations to come.

Leah and her husband, Joshua, are the parents of four children, including a grown son and a daughter-in-love, and proud grandparents of a sweet little boy. Her personal interests—reading, writing, travel, education, and historic homes—reflect the same curiosity and love of learning that she seeks to instill in every student.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Great Texts of the Western Tradition from Baylor University, an Associate of Arts in Elementary Education from Houston Community College, and a children’s literature writing certificate from the Institute of Children’s Literature.

Elizabeth Watts

Board of Directors

Liz and her husband, Daniel, are the parents of two young children, with a third on the way. She serves in a part-time remote role with Mission to the World, the global missions agency of the Presbyterian Church in America, where she contributes to advancing cross-cultural ministry efforts.

Liz brings a natural strength in fostering community and cultivating meaningful relationships, along with a deep commitment to family life and the intentional formation of her children. Prior to becoming a parent, she was introduced to Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education and found its principles to be closely aligned with her own values.

As both a parent of a student at Ambleside School of Waco and a member of the Board of Directors, Liz is honored to support the school’s mission and long-term vision. She is committed to helping steward a Christ-centered educational community that prioritizes both academic excellence and the holistic formation of each child.

Mrs. Lisa Osborn

Board of Directors, Treasurer

Lisa and her husband Bill have four grown children and 6 grandchildren under the age of 4, with one more on the way. Together they own and manage a long-term rental house business, among other business adventures.

Lisa is currently the deacon of Women’s discipleship at Grace Church Waco, implementing and overseeing the women’s ministry there. She also serves the broader church community of Waco as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship (a global in-depth Bible study) and has served on the board of Mattaw Ministries, a Kenyan ministry that houses orphaned and neglected children, for the last 12 years.

Lisa and Bill’s two younger children attended an Ambleside school in southwest Texas, and she is very passionate about Ambleside School International’s mission, having witnessed the beautiful effects it has had in her own children’s lives. Lisa is honored to be a part of bringing Ambleside to Waco and is committed to serving Ambleside Waco’s children and their families.
